Artist & Designer
Brande Wilkerson

Picture
The What
I feel like I am frequently emerging from a futuristic paradox. Most recognize me for my geometric designs. With over 20 years of experience in fashion styling/costume design, photography became my first medium of expression. I created concepts for photography shoots and designed thematic installation backdrops for each.
 P
hotography & costume work was published in 75+ worldwide publications & magazine covers from 2014-2019. My love for artistic design through expression evolved into a vast skillset that spans several different genres and mediums.

The Who
I like to call myself a time traveling artist. I love to pull inspiration from the past into the present, with a focus on the future. I give my "me" time to God and ask him to direct my mind and the work of my hands when I am creating. I am still fascinated at times what the spirit will produce through me. I am only a conduit. The first focus of my work in the present, is to give. As a futuristic artist my heart is to create a glimpse of God's future & our purpose through my art of course, and my nature is to see a better future for the oppressed and downtrodden. (Mathew 25:35-40)

The Why
The sale of my art offers me the ability to give and help those with immediate needs like food, shelter and clothing in my area and beyond. I support several needy families and organizations that have touched my                                                                                   heart over the years. I find satisfaction in the ability to provide for the                                                                                       needs of others this way. This is my mission & field.

The How
I like my creations to invoke a vision of the timeline of life. I encourage the viewer to assess the space we presently occupy and consider the space we will occupy in the future. We determine the paths of our future by the decisions we make today. Some of my pieces provoke an interactive response in a multi-sensory way. This invites interaction with the power to change a current position. I call my work a study of time travel, we all have the power to change something for the future. When the viewer encounters my work, I hope they see many options & opportunities. Some of my inspirations are space travel, industrial architecture, digital technology and mid-century design.

The Education & Experience
Raised by an accomplished art instructor, Brande's creative journey was built with a solid understanding of the arts. She attended a year of college at CBC Conway but was challenged financially during that time and had to step away. When she opened her online vintage boutique in 1999, Victory Vintage Boutique, she discovered fashions with delicate handmade details that were in need of a new life. The need to give new life to vintage heirlooms naturally led her into her own design line. Her business flourished and eventually turned into her own costume design business. She developed skills in fashion and beauty photography during this time and worked alongside many well-known designers and photographers. This season of experience in millinery & costume design led to the evolution of craft in the arts. From costume & headgears to installation art & painting, Brande's work is recognizable no matter the medium.

She is self-taught in multidisciplinary mediums of paper art, construction sculpture technique, assemblage, mural design, concept development, painting, multi-sensory, installation art and more.
