Gates have always held a significant place in our lives and communities. They symbolize security, protection, and entry into new realms. In Scripture, gates are more than architectural elements; they are deeply symbolic of spiritual realities. They represent access points, authority, transition zones, protection, worship, and judgment. From Old Testament cities to heavenly visions in Revelation, gates appear as strategic and prophetic symbols. Understanding their spiritual meaning can deepen our walk with God and sharpen our spiritual discernment. Entry points to our soul and spirit are also referred to as gates, like our eyes and ears, which are entrances into our hearts and minds. We are responsible for guarding them and keeping close watch on what we allow through those gates, because they will deeply permeate. Keep watch O' Gatekeeper.

Rev 21:10-14 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.  It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal.  It had a great, high wall with twelve gates, and with twelve angels at the gates. On the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel.  There were three gates on the east, three on the north, three on the south and three on the west.  The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
